Pilot Training Flight Simulator Map

Use the Pilot Training Flight Simulator map to find islands, airports, nearby alternates, specialized bases, and practical routes without relying on stale terrain.

Use the Pilot Training Flight Simulator map as a relationship guide: identify the departure island, destination island, nearest large alternate, and special landing areas. The live minimap and airport selector are more current than a saved image. Community map pages include different update dates and remodel warnings, so do not memorize a taxiway or shoreline from an old screenshot.

Skopelos and Saint Barthélemy add small, terrain-sensitive destinations between the larger regions. Carriers sit offshore and require compatible aircraft and deck procedures.

Plan a route from the map

Write four items before departure: airport code, island, runway or landing-area type, and alternate. For example, a flight to Lukla should name Perth International as the large alternate. A flight to a carrier should name a military base or Greater Rockford. A seabase route should include a nearby runway that supports the amphibious aircraft.

Then choose an aircraft that fits both ends. Large airliners should remain between large airports until you know their runway needs. Light aircraft open the small fields. Helicopters and amphibious aircraft reach special locations but use different controls and landing techniques.

Check fuel and keep the minimap available. The documented flight kit shows altitude, speed, throttle, and fuel, while the map provides direction. Neither replaces looking outside for terrain and traffic.

Reconcile map versions

The community’s airport map data includes a May 2024 description, while another island map references later imagery and warns about a Perth remodel. This means a marker can remain useful even when a runway, terminal, road, or coastline has changed.

Use old maps for broad direction only. At spawn, compare the live airport layout with the map. During flight, use island silhouettes and major airports as anchors. On approach, trust current terrain, runway markings, and the minimap over an old chart.

If a destination is missing or looks remodeled, climb to a safe altitude, orbit outside the traffic area, and locate it visually. Do not descend into the old map position. Divert when the landing surface cannot be identified.

Suggested learning routes

For a first cross-island flight, connect Greater Rockford and a nearby medium or large airport. Use a light aircraft and keep the departure behind you until the destination island is clear. For airline practice, connect Greater Rockford with Perth, Larnaca, Tokyo, or Izolirani, using a wide approach and a large alternate.

For short-runway progression, begin at a large field, visit a medium airport, then attempt Training Centre or another small field. Leave Lukla, Saba, Skopelos, and Saint Barthélemy until you can hold a stable landing speed and go around early.

For amphibious practice, connect a runway with Waterloo, Sea Haven, or Tavaro Seabase. For helicopter practice, use a large airport first, then fly to Oil Rig or a coast guard location with an open landing area.

Use airport codes with the map

Codes make the map easier to scan. IRFD is Greater Rockford, IPPH is Perth, ITKO is Tokyo, ILAR is Larnaca, IZOL is Izolirani, IGRV is Grindavik, and ISAU is Sauthemptona. Small fields and military bases have their own codes, while carriers and water locations often use community-designated identifiers.

Open the airport codes guide beside the map rather than guessing from the airport name. In a mission, trust the label shown by the current Missions panel.

Map mistakes to avoid

Do not treat every marker as a spawnable airport. Do not choose a large aircraft because the destination has a runway symbol. Do not use an old chart to taxi through a remodeled terminal. Do not descend below a safe height while searching for a missing field. Do not assume an unofficial seabase or carrier code is a real-world ICAO identifier.

The airport list explains location types, and the runway guide covers headings and obstacle approaches. Combine all three with the live minimap.

Evidence note and sources

Island positions, airport markers, and route relationships are community reported, checked September 22, 2026. Exact terrain and layouts require a live-game check.
