Pilot Training Flight Simulator uses four-letter airport identifiers in charts, flight plans, ATC roleplay, and route discussions. The current community list uses IRFD for Greater Rockford, IPPH for Perth International, ILAR for Larnaca, and ITKO for Tokyo International. Confirm the code shown by the live map or mission UI, because community tables can lag after a remodel or new location.
Large and mid-sized airport codes
Use a large-airport code when planning an alternate for an airliner or cargo aircraft. A medium airport can be a good destination for regional aircraft but may not support an A380 or 747.
Small airfield codes
The current community index documents IBAR for Barra Airport, ILKL for Lukla, IDCS for Saba, IHEN for Henstridge Airfield, IBLT for Boltic Airfield, ISKP for Skopelos Airfield, IJAF for Al Najaf Airfield, and ITRC for Training Centre.
Small fields need aircraft and technique that fit the runway. Before using the code in a mission or flight plan, confirm the departure airport offers the required aircraft and the destination is still present in the live selector.
Military and carrier identifiers
IGAR identifies Airbase Garry, ISCM identifies RAF Scampton, and IUFO is used for Abandoned Airfield. Community guides also use IHMS for HMS Queen Elizabeth and IUSS for USS Gerald R. Ford, while explicitly warning that the carrier codes are unofficial.
An unofficial code is still useful inside PTFS roleplay, but it should not be presented as a real-world aviation code. Carriers also require deck-compatible aircraft and current launch or arresting controls; a code does not prove that the selected aircraft can operate there.
Seaplane, coast guard, and heliport identifiers
Community navigation lists ISHN for Sea Haven, IWLO for Waterloo, and ITSB for Tavaro Seabase. It lists IGRC for Rockford Coast Guard, IIZC for Izolirani Coast Guard, IPCH for Perth Coast Guard, IGDK for Grindavik Coast Guard, IOCG for Orenji Coast Guard, and IORG for Oil Rig.
These specialized identifiers are described as unofficial community designators. Seabases serve amphibious aircraft and helicopters; coast guard access and vehicles can depend on the official Coast Guard pass; Oil Rig is a helicopter and amphibious destination.
How to use a code in a route
Write departure, destination, alternate, and aircraft. A compact plan could be IRFD → IPPH, alternate IMLR, followed by the intended runway or broad heading. In ATC roleplay, use the code to distinguish airports with similar traffic and keep the message short.
In the Missions panel, select the island and airport using the displayed names. If a mission shows a code, match it to the current UI. Do not type an airport code into chat expecting a reward; airport identifiers are not promotional codes.
Resolve code disagreements
First check the live map, airport selector, ground chart, or mission label. Then compare the latest community airport page. A spelling difference—such as a community typo in an older map—does not justify inventing a new code. Keep the code attached to the exact location displayed in the game.
If a new airport appears without a stable identifier, use its full in-game name until a current chart or UI provides one. If a community code is marked unofficial, preserve that label. The map guide helps locate the island, while the airport list explains what aircraft class is suitable.
